Pros

Reasonable priced dental service that fills a need in the market place

Cons

The company has new ownership. They are cutting cost through aggressive downsizing. Don't know what the company will be like in the future. The company has a distrusting culture due to micromanagement by the CEO.

    - Be more proactive with employees who might need a little push to a higher level of performance
    - "Manage" without "micro-managing"; i,e, make sure your people know where they should be working, and where and when they might be falling behind.

    Pros

    WD’s in house financing is an incredible service for lower and middle income families during these tougher economic times. Dental services business model is a great one.
    Most employees hired in the field offices are hard working, sincerely care about patients, and are great team players.

    Cons

    Bonuses, metrics, and the leaderships high pressure performance tactics result in poor business ethics. Daily operation promotes: Doctors diagnosing treatment patient clinically do not need; OSHA substandard execution; Short cuts in sterilization; Hourly employees regularly work off the clock to complete work load. All contributing to high employee turn over, difficult to recruit experience talent, and WD struggles to retain many of its patients past their initial office visit or treatment services.
    WD true culture and values have created a "revolving door" environment for its employees and patients.
    Until major changes are made to the standard business practices, the ethical leaders, doctors, managers, employees will keep leaving the company, WD will continue its' "Death Spiral".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Execute business code of ethics, Dental Board standards, and California Labor Laws. Don't compromise company policy for "high producing Doctors"; Don't "turn a blind eye" to all around poor business ethics; Don't "shoot the messengers" who use the internal Fraud, QM and HR lines set up to help WD be the potentially great company it once was.
