Current Employee - Engineering Manager in Mountain View, CA

I have been working at Western Digital full-time for more than a year

Pros

Good bonus. Great opportunities on technical track for highly skilled technical people.

Cons

Need to prove a lot to grow on management side. Base salary hike is less than 2%. 401k, vacation and healthcare benefits are below average. Stock options are only for sr levels

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more, hire better technical people and show growth to existing managers

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee  in  Fremont, CA
Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Fremont, CA

I have been working at Western Digital full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay is OK (base+bonus+ESPP). Could do better given the work. Nothing else to think of for 'Pro'

    Cons

-Not much room to grow or to get promoted,
-There is excessive work, cannot balance work/life, should allow work from home at least once a week, since most people are working 7 days a week anyway!
-Benefits are very poor, health plan is really horrible
-Forced vacation, forced shutdown, almost no vacatiions hours remain in your balance
-Very poorly organized, no rigorous documentation, no robust training program
-Some people have no work, easy jobs but have been able to survive in the company while some folks are getting squeezed due to ever increasing work load

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care for the people who actually 'work'

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
