I have been working at Western Michigan University

Pros

Flexible hours, Great boss, Challenging work, not a lot of boredom, great peers and co-workers.
All around great place to work.

Cons

Boredom at work sometimes, usually one social loafer, bossy co-worker, having to come back to a job that was finished numerous times.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing. Helping students get jobs on campus is great, it helps parents and students that have lower income.

I have been working at Western Michigan University

    Pros

It is situated in a wonderful community, provides a wide variety of benefits, is a fairly stable work environment and offers flexibility.

    Cons

Seems to be a serious disconnect between the various colleges, departments, and management to staff. Has not been able to keep high level administrators long enough to develop vision and forward planning. Pay inequity between genders and minority groups.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize the capabilities and interests of employees, instead of always looking outside the university for answers. Do the hard work: identify weakest links and sever them.
