Current Employee – been working at Western Union
Pros – Strong market position, company association does open doors, esp. in pursuit of a JV or marketing program.
Cons – Over reliance on agents to do work, plus company is in the middle of a centralization kick (as of June 2010). Consider: when you have to approve a $1000 trip for business reasons, management appears distrustful.
If you're going to work for Western Union, make sure you are in Denver or have a clear path to a position there if considering a career. Company does not innovate well, seems to prefer buying innovation.
Advice to Senior Management – Use some of that available cash to actually invest in new technologies, and don't be afraid of agents. Consider decentralizing decision making.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
