Pros

If you want an entry level Insurance position with a stable company, it is a wonderful place to start.

Cons

entry level as presented to seasoned reps as not being so.

Advice to Management

pay more generously for contracts, help out more consistently

    Pros

If you can stomach it, you get a free lunch each day.

    Cons

Boy's club, forced to wear professional dress even though there is no contact with customers, fashion police watch to see if you're wearing inappropriate garb, health insurance is worthless, they penalize people that are overweight or smoke, the building is old with escalators, "Musac" in the lunch area. You really feel like you're working during the 1950-60's era, with all of the downfalls for women during that time. Very, very conservative approach to everything, if you have any liberal views, keep them to yourself or you'll be fired.

    Advice to Management

Get a grip, quit wasting your time being fashion police, come out of your cubicle when there is an issue that requires your attention. Treat women with respect and get rid of the old fashioned policy of making people wear dress shirts/ties or heels/hosiery. Really, you're not Don Draper.

    Pros

free lunch is great, subsidized parking, health benefits ok, pay is decent if you negotiate coming in well. you can move up in the office system if you put in enough time somewhere. Top level executive management may be best in city, but keep the doors to "club" tightly locked. This is a privately held firm.

    Cons

very conservative, hierarchical organization. top down decision making. thinking outside the box or challenging managers gets you fired in an instant. low satisfaction in office jobs. bookish personality types who respond well to direction thrive here.

    Advice to Management

strip down some decision making, get some churn in management so people can move up. no reason to have VPs in their 70s running an IT department.
