Pros

Great new work environments, fair pay, generally young and fun people to work with

Cons

Leadership has made several poor decisions and is on the wrong path with its multi-brand strategy.

    Pros

    Merit-based recruitment, based on individual testing rather than experience, age, ethnicity or a good CV;
    Individual merit-based reviews and bonuses;
    Friendly and team-based;
    Equal opportunity and no glass ceiling;

    Cons

    A complicated and non-co-ordinated software system;
    Lack of communication between different sections of the bank and different departments;
    No time for coffee breaks and limited lunch breaks;
    Unpaid overtime at the end of the day when reconciling cash/computer systems (the time allowed by the bank was rarely sufficient for this for most employees on most days, but especially on Fridays/Mondays and other extra busy banking days);
    The training period was too short and the employee "thrown in the deep end" with insufficient preparation

    Advice to Management

    Co-ordinate communication and software between departments; Increase training period, pay for the real time worked by employees including end-of-day reconciliation, employ more staff to ensure breaks can be taken regularly.

    Pros

    Lots of good hard working and passionate people make it easy to work there.
    Management advocates and respects a healthy home life balance.
    Opportunities are available for those willing to push themselves.

    Cons

    Bureaucracy and endless restructures.
    Weak middle and senior management.
    Execs talk a good game but follow through is poor.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on being number one, not copying the competition and hoping to be number one...
    Current funding model and structure stifles any hope of innovation.
     IT needs to partner with business and add value rather than just focus on cutting costs and further degrading the trust and quality of service.
