Pros

* Clear direction and relevant, useful feedback from management
* Appropriate delegation
* Resources available when required to complete assignments

Cons

* Career advancement slow or non-existent

Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is very little fat in lower paid staff positions, but a great deal in higher paid management positions. Recommend review and consolidation of management responsibilities.

    Pros

The only reason to work at WETA is their positive attitude in coping with work/life balance issues.

    Cons

Unprofessional, negative attitude toward women, significant glass ceiling, no career advancement possible, substandard management, no leadership or vision

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Where is the leadership? Where is the vision?

I worked at Weta full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Station remains dedicated to the mission of public television and in serving the community. Casual work environment and friendly co-workers. Good benefits package but salary levels for most staff positions seem to be well below the market average.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement within the company. People looking to move into management or higher-paying positions must leave the company to pursue their career goals. Large gap in staff pay levels and those of upper management (top heavy with VPs).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Even a public television station must adapt to the changing demands of the broadcasting business and raise the bar in providing the staffing, training and technology to deal with the new world of multimedia broadcasting. Invest in your people and have a better system of mentoring staff employees to retain the strongest and weed out those who are under performing.

    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
