I have been working at Wheeler Clinic full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Generous paid time off, flexibility, great opportunities for folks entering the profession, and progressive. MIS/IT is advanced and deploys updated technology regularly to staff at all levels. Structured student training platform. The clinic continues to strive to provide for the community it covers. Stable funding sources. The mission of the clinic continues to remain relevant, valid and followed. The School and half a dozen of the children's programs are excellent.

    Cons

Executive and Senior leadership is well intended, however lacks a sense of direction, unity, execution and experience. There is disagreement amongst senior leaders and greater focus on protectionism of their respective position; leading to a sense of aloofness and general disconnect with the frontline. The senior leadership has fostered a fear based undertow for many of its vital divisions, in particular the service lines within Adult Services and a handful of lines within on the Children's Services. Many successful managers, staff and departments fail to receive the recognition they deserve while they idly sit (or continuously look for new opportunities elsewhere).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

David Berkowitz has not been the CEO for close to a decade. It is unfortunate that Glassdoor.com has not updated the true name of the current CEO, as Mr. Berkowitz was a gentlemen and a successful CEO. The current CEO has contributed a great deal and her contribution to the clinic is noteworthy. On the other hand, when a patient continues to bleed or relapse into illness, a new set of eyes can go a long way.
