Pros
There is a genuine cooperative work ethic between departments and a level of commitment from local management to the designers and plant support team. Through this environment, cross departmental communications to provide thorough design elements for successful product implementations make rework and redo's a minimal task.
Cons
With management being driven from the corporate offices in Benton Harbor, time delays in submitting project details to corporate offices for approvals are not quite as expedient as they should be. Some of the meetings and group task force programs are overkill in order to provide an inordinate amount of details which are only essential to local management. Cutting back on the volume of task force groups would improve project throughput and enable products to be delivered in a more timely manner. This needs to be more division driven and confidence in the local divisions to manage their own affairs relating to productivity and work efficiencies.
Advice to Senior Management
Work harder for more autonomous decision making.
