Disapproves of CEO
Disapproves of CEO

Pros

- Great portfolio of brands
- Wonderful business sectors served
- By and large used to have a good corporate culture

Cons

- If you like weekly beatings, this is the place for you!
- The corporate culture has hardened and there is no job security here
- Whirlpool is losing to Asian competitors in technology, engineering and marketing
- Jeff Fettig is not providing any vision to turn the company around - except cost cut!
(and cost cutting is NOT a strategy!)

Advice to Management

Whirlpool absolutely has the potential to be a leader in the appliance industry, and once upon a time it was a wonderful place to work. No longer. It is full of duplicitous executives (espicially HR leadership) who are rewarded for short term gain and cost take out. Until this fundamentally changes, my advise to potential employees is to STAY AWAY!!!

    Pros

    - Salary is competitive if you negotiate your starting salary well
    - The company is large enough to allow experience in many different areas if you move within the corporation
    - If you like living in a small town, the area is great, beach is beautiful, and the people are kind

    Cons

    - This company is one of the most competitive ones I've seen if you are trying to move up the ladder quickly
    - This is still a company driven by middle-aged and older caucasian men.

    Advice to Management

    - Vision is nothing without strategy and execution
    - Reduce the number of non-value added meetings
    - Find a way to show employees they are valued - like the company picnic?

    Pros

Corporate culture and the active lifestyle events they offer outside of work. They attempt to foster a culture of inclusivity...they fail.

    Cons

Very hard to move up in the company. The bonus structure is terrible. I received an exceeds expectations two years in a row and was never promoted. It just depends on who your manager is. The HR department really does not assist when you come to them.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees the way you would like to be treated. I realize that times are tough but the morale of the people is what will get this company over the hump. We all have families to take care of.
