I have been working at Whole Foods Market full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Employee discount card, gain sharing, medical benefits and 401K, and casual work environment.

Cons

WFM has extremely high quality service standards that are unlike any other grocery retailer. If you aren't prepared to offer great customer service in addition to your normal daily tasks then you should choose another company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

WFM uses the adage "the cream rises to the top." Make sure you walk in the front door with managerial skills because there is little training opportunity provided by the company, but WFM is happy to promote those who seek knowledge for themselves.

    Pros

Very good benefits. Very good workplace to be in.

    Cons

They are on the customers side instead of team members. They don't go by the Core Values.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont fire team members for false customer accusations.

I worked at Whole Foods Market part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    An exciting, super-busy environment
Saw several celebrities doing their grocery shopping and even cashiered for one
Employee discounts were awesome on store products and prepared foods
Time passed quickly on the job

    Cons

The half hour lunch did not cut it for me; I perpetually spent more time on lunch than I was allowed, and, honestly, it was always because I had to spend ten minutes waiting in line to use the ladies room.
The job is tiring. You are on you feet the entire shift and bagging groceries can be hard on your back or just hard to manage if you can't lift much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate how tiring cashiering is, especially when you work full time at it.
Be grateful for those cashiers who really know the job, do it well, AND still give genuinely pleasant customer service. The temptation is to think that just new hires are hyper-friendly. No, a number of cashiers I worked with were truly dedicated and great workers. Did management appreciate them? I have no idea, but I did.
