I have been working at Whole Foods Market full-time for less than a year

Pros

Discount (30%), health ins., 401(k), transfer opportunities, travel, personal enrichment, friendships, networking

Cons

Work-life-balance, bad leaders, retail scheduling and attitudes....many team members not living the values of whole foods market

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn from competitors: get better IT, coupons & Sales, customer service, etc. Make use of the great talent that you have in your team members. Many cashiers could easily become incredibly successful leaders if given the change and training.

I worked at Whole Foods Market full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There was no benefit to this job whatsoever

    Cons

    Cult-like atmosphere
None of the employees believe the "mission of whole foods"
    No training
Co-workers talk down to you as if you don't matter
    No leadership
    Very unorganized, stressful environment
If any issue arises, there is no one to tell. You will be bullied for even speaking up.
Discount isn't even enough to make a difference
Wage of workers is not something you can survive off of. Most whole foods workers have multiple jobs to even scrape by. For such a successful company, they put no value on their average employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take courses in team building and leadership. Learn to listen to an employee's concerns. Be a real leader and end the negative backstabbing, he said/she said culture of Whole Foods that is infecting the store.

I worked at Whole Foods Market full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

mission driven company with exceptional commitment to team members, community, and small businesses alike. whole foods markets has changed the natural and organic supply chain as we know it.

    Cons

with rapid growth change is inevitable; but often in the shorter term these can be critical mistakes. i think the company is still rebounding from growing too fast - at least regionally in Northern California.
