I have been working at Williams-Sonoma

Pros

The discount is really great.

Cons

The new regime is delusional and stressing the store management to the point where they are quitting.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop taking on initiatives such as credit cards and harassment of the customers and requiring sales staff to be responsible for the crap. Stop ordering garbage that your core customers do not want nor buy and refusing to mark the merchandise down enough to liquidate before inventory.

Great people, company doesn't do enough to retain employees.

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are phenomenal. You will work with wonderful, dedicated and talented individuals.

    Cons

There are no frills to this company. A nice discount only gets you so far. They do not pay the industry average and once you are there, you are lucky to get a bathroom with sufficient amounts of toilet paper. WSI does not do enough to retain it's employees. The turnover is extremely high, which may lead to quick advancement, but if you get stuck in a group of lifers, be ready to be around for awhile without any movement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do whatever you can to retain employees. Don't make promises you can't follow through with. There would be far less mistakes if there were people around for longer than a year.

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I love the caliber of the teams that I work with, people with great ideas and initiative. The leadership team welcomes new ideas & feedback. I feel like I can contribute and make a difference here. The products in all the brands are quality and beautiful and the company is constantly focused on sustainability and making products responsibly, this makes me proud. I love using my discount.

    Cons

We could make a bigger investment in technology and in payroll.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the investment to advance our technology. Make the investment in payroll in the early months of the year.
