I worked at Williams-Sonoma

Pros

The discount and the co-workers--thats it!

Cons

Too much of the "good ol boy" system. If your not friends with the right people then your stuck. Don't ever make a wave or you will be black balled. The sales managers could care less about the floor associates. The computer system is worthless. The upper management is corrupt to say the least. Using company money inappropriately. The managers and supervisors make a decent salary meanwhile the sales and service teams are making scraps.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to those that are actually "SERVING" the customers. There are too many people that are not qualified to be in the positions they are in. That is evident with all of the recent crises that have arisen. It is awfully sad that you have lost so many dedicated employees over the last year. Maybe that yacht and personal jet is not so necessary after all.

    Pros

Fun coworkers help create a pleasant work environment.
Interesting product assortment with a good discount.
Reputation as a leading company with excellent values.

    Cons

Career growth is very limited. There is minimal feedback on job performance, and new challenges must be searched out and requested if you have a desire to learn something new. The atmosphere discourages individual attempts to improve standard practices.
Fairly strict corporate environment ie: No casual Friday, very limited Holidays

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is essential to encourage growth and expand fields of knowledge if they expect to retain key talent. Also system upgrades are long overdue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

never see upper management at the store during holidays in the over 10 years I have worked as a Sales Associate in 2 different locations. Having been in Corporate Retail it is imperative for the higher-ups to see what is going on in the trenches.
