I worked at Willis

Pros

Good people for the most part. Reasonable work/life expectations in most cases. Highly regarded firm within the commercial insurance industry (top 3).

Cons

Lack of formalized support functions. Sub-par performance review process. Sold upfront on big bonuses, but lots of excuses when it's time for Willis to pay-up - bonuses are hard to come by regardless of performance or profitability.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on infrastructure and improve annual employee review processes. Do what you say you are going to do with respect to annual raises, bonuses, and employee reviews. Pay more attention to internal cooperation between service teams and strive to eliminate unhealthy internal competition.

    I worked at Willis

    Pros

Willis is a large company with many technial areas. Any person with a drive to succeed and a strong work ethic would do very well. With Willis it's truly all about what you put into it. The IT leadership recognizes those persons that go above and beyond and gives them the opportunities to succeed.

    Cons

Willis is in the midst of a power struggle between its UK and North American operations. There are opposing phylosophies at play. These cultural differences cause a constant headache on both sides making real progress twice as hard as it should be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the leadership on one side of "the pond" or the other. In the end it doesn't truly matter which one. Until there is a common agreement in management of the way forward, there can be no "One Flag".

I have been working at Willis

    Pros

Complete support of management who support thinking outside the box. Access to top executives who listen. Global teamwork is incredible. We have practice leaders who are recognized experts in their field and they are not siloed like our competitors. If we need the advice of a Captive expert in Dublin, he or she is flown in at no cost to the local office. With a presence in over 100 countries, each Network Country Manager will answer any question instantly. This company stands alone in it's atitude toward its employees and its global teamwork.

    Cons

None. Healthcare package could stand tweaking but that's typical of any large company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep it up!
