Winn-Dixie – “Riding the Titanic as it tries to turn around.”

Pros

It seems as if senior management is finally turning over some deeply rooted stones. The distribution center I work at is now having to take really close look at their budgets. The company has replaced unsafe trucks with new models. Seems they are electing to put a little more money into the infrastructure. Someone is getting closer to the waste.

Cons

In combing through the budget, my department lost a productive position. More work, no overtime. We seldom get to eat our meal at our desk. I resent not being able to eat in peace. Or at least, get paid for the meal I didn't get. I cannot understand why management can't see the salary we loose: a) driver's wait time between their first and second routes. b) driver's wait time at stores that haven't opened yet. c) store managers making drivers wait to open the doors. So elementary, this wasted salary time appears to be hidden from my immediate management. I have never had a performance review. I always hear about the open-door policy, never seen it happen.

Advice to Senior Management

Fire middle management and start over. It seems this has been happening at the top.
