I worked at Wipro

Pros

none, there is not much besides consulting hops from one place to another. The company had a great product in the area of network management they had no clue what to do with it and sold it for pittance. The GM was clueless about it when asked. Another GM I worked for was primarily counting heads. overall a big no despite all the hype around the org.

Cons

- no relocation
- extremely poor follow up on their own commitments
- utter disregard for families

Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you send engineers from India give them a life with dignity. These engineers who leave their home and everything are basically on their own expense after the 5th day. You have to ask for the cab money from hotel to the apartment you'd move in. No car, no relocation assitance except for help from site coordinators.

I have been working at Wipro

    Pros

There are many very good managers in WT - if you happen to work for one of them then it a good experience.

There are a host of onsite opportunities allowing one to make some good money in the process.

You get to work for clients in different functional areas in multiple technologies so the exposure is very interesting.

RSU - stock options, you have to be around for a while but if you get some of them RSU's then you can still strike gold.

    Cons

Many many incompetent managers who got promoted just because they stayed with the organization for a long time - absolutely no clue about project, customer or people management.

Long working hours - 14-16 hour days is the norm in most WT locations, even at onsite locations in the US.

When you are in the US you have to deal with an offshore team also which means calls at night..long, very long calls!

Below market salaries in both India and the US.

    Many policies are way out-of-date.

No transparent communication channel to senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do away with the deadwood floating around and reward performers better - this way you will have more of performing employees automatically increasing the magic numbers (operating margin, profit, utilization per employee).

Right now I see a lot of good people moving on to better jobs because of incompetent managers. Improve management layer drastically.

I have been working at Wipro

    Pros

After thinking so much, I could not find one real reason to motivate others to join Wipro. Yeah! Yeah! It is a giant Indian company with good reputation in India.

    Cons

May be this space is less to list all the downsides. However I am listing FEW of MANY:
No personal life, no appraisals, Extremely bad management from an employees perspective, Managers exploits their employees to their full capacity, the employee quality is highly deteriorated, offshore calling up even at midnight at onsite, 24X7 availabilty is required by an employee in LITERAL SENSE, etc, etc, etc, etc......

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Company grows when employee grows...
Have some attention towards employee staisfaction & give him some personal space in life.
