I have been working at Wood Mackenzie full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Really great working culture and people. Interesting projects to get involved with both in your own location but also with colleagues in offices overseas. Absolutely fantastic benefits especially compared to other Australian companies including fully paid health insurance, 25 days annual leave, life insurance, salary continuance insurance and 15% super. In addition, the company really supports flexible working and work life balance. It's a great company to work for.

    Cons

Working in a smaller office, opportunities for career advancement often mean moving overseas to move up in your career. Some would see this as a con others as a pro. Working for a global company, there are often calls outside of "normal working hours" the more senior you get in the business, however, this is not unique to Wood Mac.

I worked at Wood Mackenzie full-time

    Pros

If you're looking for that all-elusive first job in programming then keep an eye on production or support jobs with Wood mac. They are very budget sensitive so will promote from within whenever possible, and if you push then you will get a chance to move to development.

    Cons

Most in Wood mac views the IT department as an old-fashioned obstacle, including much of IT. The personal politics and 1950s working practises make life pretty unpleasant, and the emphasis on niche and obsolescent technology and penny-pinching product choices show up everywhere. You'll work with old, old hardware and you will be expected to work long hours without any give and take. I've never been in a company with so many people getting signed off for stress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You'd save more of that precious money by not having to replace staff all the time. Most people don't have shares any more to tie us in.
