I worked at Working America full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Decent wages and full benefits.

    Cons

Employer culture ironically is not LGBT friendly and lacks LGBT policies in the workplace.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Working America suggests through its advertisements that they are an activist/organizer employer wanting people to become employed and spreading the word to attack the 1%. Their organization ironically reflects corporate values for their hiring process and this agency lacks cultural competency with members of the LGBT community. The existing staff at this location were obviously people who needed jobs (e.g., low income, under-educated, minorities) yet deliberately do not hire people who are from the LGBT community with solid education and skills for fear of stigmatization. It is a shame people are mislead to apply at an agency whose rhetoric is everyone in America needs a job. Staff canvassers and management are culturally incompetent.

    I worked at Working America

    Pros

Respectful and fun work environment, great benefits, opportunities for advancement and promotions, understanding management, fair base pay plus bonus compensation

    Cons

Awkward hours (1:30-10) means that you are on an opposite schedule from most events and friends, neighborhoods you go to are always changing (for good and bad)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Denver management is good. They are very understanding and they work hard to make sure you are happy. Good praise for job's well done.
