I worked at WorldQuant full-time

Pros

- Better than average salary in developing countries. - No advanced math or knowledge of data science or anything that assumes more than a highschool diploma is required to work here.

Cons

- No training is offered. - Management is inexperienced - Competitiveness: you basically compete against everyone from day one, so knowledge doesn't get passed around freely. - You have to produce results at a pace that prevents quality research or any form of self learning. - Long hours In summary: if you expect to do more than testing one liner formulas for 10 hours a day, while listening to abusive comments from your supervisor about why you dont work 12 hours a day, this is the right job for you

Advice to Management

Be more forthcoming about the job description when talking to prospective employees. Offer structured training. The model "if you have questions, just ask your supervisor" doesn't work, especially if you have to be up to speed in a week.

I have been working at WorldQuant full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible working hour and very smart coworkers

    Cons

No input/corporation/feedback from any other people, no training/learning opportunity. People are smart but they compete with each other too hard. Avoid this place if you want to develop a long term career in finance by starting on research

    Advice to Management

    Encourage collaboration between researchers
