Wyndham Worldwide – “Great work-life balance for those not looking to climb the corporate ladder.

Apr 14, 2009

3.0

Wyndham Worldwide Anonymous in Orlando, FL:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

The company supports a balanced work-life schedule. Time off for necessary medical and family situations is rarely questioned. If necessary, remote work is usually and option.
The company has invested significant resources into understanding their customers and has made improvements in reaction to their findings.

Cons

Middle management was not effective in supporting personal and career growth. Employees are likely to be trapped in their current role because their immediate supervisor is not skilled in the ways of people development.
The size of the company makes it difficult for true professional relationships to develop; with so many levels of leadership, the strategic decision makers are too far removed from the worker bees making it all happen.

Advice to Senior Management

This company would benefit from a change towards recognizing its employees are the number 1 asset. Investing properly in the workforce will lead to better performance. Bounds of talent is going untapped because the leadership has not identified this as critical to success.
