I worked at Xerox full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Good basic benefits. Ok compensation, but they are penny pinching too much.

Cons

Too focused on headcount. Lost focus on customer in some areas. Different regions are doing better. Management panel recruiting process focuses more on communication skills than analytical skills resulting in managers who can talk better than perform. Filters out all the "plant' personality role types.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start focusing on the customers and employees more. Make Xerox a better place to work and a better company to do business with.

    Pros

    Good people who work hard and want to do a good job. Flexibility in work schedule.

    Cons

    Upper management trusts that client companies will actually have the work planned for a year. Consequently, lack of work results in employees being moved to other clients or areas. When there's not enough work there they are laid off.

    Individual contributors are moved from project to project without ensuring they are a fit for the project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Obtain more contract committment from clients for a budget year so that resources can be allocated more effectively. Asses skills of individual contributors. Match skills to projects.

    Worked with some of the most talented people in the industry.

    Cons

    Staff continues to be reduced to save a buck so the additional workload is redistributed to the remaining employees.

    Unhappy employees move on.
