I have been working at Xerox as a contractor for more than a year

Pros

My workgroup is very knowledgeable. With some guys that have been there 18+ years. They are a joy to work with. Training is good prep for the field.

Cons

As a contract worker there is no promise of a permanent job. You have to use your own vehicle. Direct supervisor ignores if you ask about what the company is going to do when the contract is up.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cultivate your younger talent. Training new guys and then not offering them jobs or firing them is not the way to go. Use your older guys as senior techs.

    Pros

    Excellent working atmosphere and very skilled/good people to work with

    Cons

    Management does not care for it's employees and thus there are lay offs (under various names - RIFs, Re-Badging, etc.) every 3-6 months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Show that you also care for employees rather than just shareholders.

    I worked at Xerox full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Some good people to work with, but several were recently let go due to closing down of a major program

    Cons

    Still being run by the traditional business method employed by ACS prior to Xerox buyout. No creativity, no true future vision, just how can we maximize our revenue and earnings so the top layer receives their bonuses. Can't believe management still thinks furloughing employees is a acceptable way to cut costs enough so they can make their bonus. C'mon Ursula- get a handle on these clowns!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Ditch ALL of the old ACS management--most have made their money from the buyout and you don't need this type of cancer in your organization to grow it. The Cloud looked good, but too many cooks in the kitchen, very few of whom even knew how to spell "Cloud". Bring it back and let the print group partners sell it.
