I worked at Xerox full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

In search of a progressive future, it threw away its strengths.

Cons

Micro management and mistrust. Employees are led by the nose and can't feel autonomous.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire good people and get out of their way.
Xerox USED to do that, and it works!

    I worked at Xerox full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Some great people with amazing talent!. Office was small but very conducive to communication between workers.

    Cons

    Manager was clueless as to the real world of business development, Customer Service requirements, and the knowledge of people in the industry with more experience. Thought younger workers knew the pulse when in actuality, more experienced workers knew how to deal with the clients

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    LISTEN to those you hire. Keep all the promises made when you hire. TRAIN your staff to be more Customer Service friendly and not immediately shut down the client. The client knows what they want and it is your responsibility to make it happen.

    Poor leadership (particularly among senior management),

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management needs to focus on promoting competence in middle management and less in micromanaging costs. Try supporting good managers and removing bad ones, and focusing on being successful, rather than trying to reduce costs through outsourcing. Bad management is bad whether it is in India or the States.
