Pros

The company is one one of the most profitable in SIlicon Valley, after only Google and Apple. It is stable business, and is geared towards innovation. Tries to develop leading edge FPGAs. Recently created world's largest chip. FPGAs are usually also the early adopters of smaller geometries ( now at 28 nm)..

Cons

The company is finding itself at a juncture where a lot of computation has shifted to mobile. Due to power and form factor, it is harder for FPGAs to penetrate that market. However, it still continues to be in the backbones of the mobile networks, which is good.
Since it is not selling directly to consumers, there is also much less hype about the company. Ordinary Joes won't knwo about he company.

Advice to Management

Need to develop a vision for future products, how they will be used, and so on.

    Pros

Xilinx is a top-notch company in programmable logic field, with cutting edge innovations n its field. Good work place, people are nice to work with, easy to get along with.

    Cons

no serious downsides, but like for most companies, there is room for improvement. It can grow at a rapid pace to distinguish itself and increase its lead from its competitors.

    Advice to Management

There is some interaction now, but some more interaction with all employees could help.

    Pros

Xilinx has a great fundamental product and great processes. The core proposition is very high and is a great company to spend 5-7 years in and put in good work/get great rewards. Was very people oriented under Wim Roelandts. Was less so under Moshe Gavrielov, but (as I hear it), is still a people friendly company compared to peers. Work life balance is good (compared to peers) and in general, people are respected and heard all through.

    Cons

There were repeated cycles of failed executions on key product launches. There was also an inability to stop churn in people, org structure and products. All this stabilized in the last few years, so not sure how things are now. The business has a fundamental issue with diversification (hard to do).

    Advice to Management

Reduce churn in organization and key leadership.
