There is hope, but HR performance rating system is encouraging back-stabbing culture.

Pros

Some of the best people to work with.
Still has innovation at the core.

Cons

Confusion up and down the command chain.
Clean and efficient execution still face challenges.

Advice to Management

Modify performance rating system to promote team work, not back-stabbing.
Sr. management should start actively listen to the ground level workers, that's where the pain is. Find the pain, and develop plans to address the pain.

    Pros

    great technology
    interesting work
    smart technology people

    Cons

Rank and rating system has destroyed most of what Xilinx was before "The Cadence Mafia" took over. This system will be the turning point of this company and will reduce it to a commodity developer with Altera taking more market share. Progress and innovation is NOT changing a brand with a new logo colour or a notional pyramid - are you trying to sell tennis shoes or deodorant? Users of these special parts don't care about a colour or a pyramid - they want great silicon and tools based on the legacy of 25 years of innovation.

    Advice to Management

Cutting some of the science projects was a good idea. However, you are taking this too far into a commodity scenario.
Drop the new rank and rating system - unless the goal is to further purge the US work force.
Realize that "offshoring" your workers is more costly than what dollars alone can measure. Man up to the reality that the strategy seems to layoff as much of the US side of Xilinx and "hire" the whole of India. There is a collective vote of "no confidence" with the present leadership from the perspective of employees NOT in the LSI - Cadence crew.

    Pros

The company was once a wonderful place to work. Maybe it can be that way again someday ...

    Cons

Xilinx used to be a very good place to work. The new executive management team has completely changed the atmosphere and corporate culture for the worse. These guys came in with the mindset that everything about the company was broken and that they know just how to fix it. The fact of the matter is that the company was mostly in very good shape. The employees were motivated and happy for the most part. Most of our products were selling very well - the execption being the Spartan family which was torpedoed by the poor decisions of incompetent management. A few changes to the corporate structure were in order but not the clean sweep that Gavrielov and Peng have orchestrated. They threw out the bath water, the baby, and everything else in the bathroom that wasn't nailed down.

    Advice to Management

You need to LISTEN to the feedback you're getting from your employees instead of brushing it off. You are losing good people at a rapid rate - they want to work somewhere that they are treated with respect. Some time soon there will be a "tipping point" when all your engineers are new hires in India that don't have a clue how anything works. The company will then implode in a glorious fashion. If you really care about the future success of Xilinx you need to PAY ATTENTION. Stop making employee decisions based only on greed.
