Pros

Xyratex have a great team at the 'coal face' lots of very dedicated people working towards a common goal.

Cons

Xyratex has an odd culture, they are about 1500 strong workforce but they have a management ethos and set up of a company ten times that size, managers managing managers, directors, VPs about three times more than is really needed. As such there was very little chance to move up and I was very keen to progress, there is also a 'magic list' of people that will get a promotion regardless. Its a shame, as I really enjoyed it there.

Advice to Senior Management

Split the company, having the divisions is madness, also if you are making cuts remove a layer of management.
