YAI stands for do not pass go. This is for people who are in between jobs no growth or opportunity!

I have been working at YAI National Institute

    Pros

You meet some really great individuals
The people with disabilities recieve a tremendous amount of support and learn a great deal when there (outcomes are actually working to there benefit)
Some of the programs give you the autonomy you desire

    Cons

There is no room for advancement, everytime I tried to go in any direction I was blocked by management (still waiting on my year review)

They dont follow protocol; they make rules up as they go along.

Honestly the pay is not that great either I mean its 2 dollars more than you make with other agencies but how can you afford to pay your bills and upper Managment is getting paid millions (see The New York times ad; Recently released)

When you have personal issues they don't care; they make little concessions to help you and redirect you to EPA. How is EPA supposse to help me if I need a schedule change? Really!

Stop being title happy and throwing your power around.

I worked at YAI National Institute

    Pros

    - Easy to get comfortable
    - Constant staff training
    - Professional at times
    - Working with like-minded people can be great
    - Many career driven people

    Cons

    - Advancement is non-existent
    - Working in group homes is extremely stressful
    - Due to the nature of the work, employees back stab each other frequently
    - Management does not care if you love the company, any problems and they pressure you to quit
    - Management ACTIVELY may prevent you from any room to maneuver
    - Write-ups can be used to instantly end chances for longevity or advancement
    - Staff members will literally fight you on the job
    - Management, especially upper management are drunk on their power

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many teachers pets and unofficial managers, ie: long-term employees that are treated like managers and given statues, yet curse/disrespect newer employees, saying things management would never be allowed to say.
Don't screw over those who love the company for those who dont.
