Pros

Good hours and great staff members

Cons

Does not pay well for how many children you are watching, a lot of the children at the YMCA are misbehaved and hard to deal with, very unorganized most of the time

    Pros

The Opportunity tho POSITIVELY influence young lives.
Building a relationship with your group of children and getting to know individual personalities.
    Being looked up to.
Comprehensive training/education in the field of child interaction and group management.
    Free Ymca Gym membership.
Very fun and easy job - SOMETIMES.
    Summer Camp.
    Admirable/fulfilling position.
    Great resume builder.

    Cons

    Very low hours (21hrs/wk -Paid Bi-weekly). 1:30pm - 6:00pm
Very low pay for the position's responsibilities ($9.10/hr).
    ***21 Hours/wk X $9.60 X 2 weeks= roughly less than $400/check every TWO weeks after taxes.***
The "bad" kids can suck some fun out of the job at times.
Lack of organization and too many revisions within the corporate chain of command, which makes things stressful, especially when managing a group of children.
Lack of supplies for group educational activities.

    Advice to Management

    Pay the counselors more.
Make the curriculum training more extensive.
Send supplies that are actually relevant for the curriculum.
Offer extra hours at the office helping to organize to the counselors who actually do their job right.
Offer incentives/bonuses to show appreciation (Top counselor in the county/of the month)
    Open more gyms.
