Pros

You do get free family membership for the volunteering the hours.

Cons

They dont want to hire you. They want you to keep volunteering until you quit volunteering. The customers treat you as if you dont exist. You are not an equal employee as a volunteer.

I worked at YMCA part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You may enjoy interfacing with and helping members of the community. Overall =The YMCA of USA has a great mission but there have been problems at this location since a new presisent was installed a few years ago.

    Cons

Upper management very opinionated and closed to feedback and suggestions. She rules the organization by actually making threats to people whom she does not like. Unfortunately not in a constructive way, but in a way that makes emplyees feel insecure about their positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a new job and stop being so threatening to employees who are only trying to help and do the right thing.

    Cons

Often worked 80+ hours per week (salaried position)

    Poorly Run from Top Down
Mission has been overtaken by money hungry executives

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This place has the chance to be run so much better but it's always "business as usual" which does not focus on the mission of the YMCA.
