I have been working at YMCA part-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

You work with great people Free membership and discounted programs Childcare You get to be a part of something bigger than yourself- the Y is an amazing non-profit

Cons

Low pay Overworked at times Drug testing Disorganized

Advice to Management

- Develop SOP from branch to branch so people can better serve the organization as a whole, and make sure people feel supported and appreciated in their work- volunteers are constantly being recognized, but what about the staff that keeps the lights on and the facility running?

    Pros

    Good flexible hours if working 2 jobs, Great co worker, and a second family. Great facility to work in clean and newish.

    Cons

    Minimum wage, hierarchy of power can determine where you end up. The boss' don't listen to employee complaints.

    Listen to your staff please

    I have been working at YMCA part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Get weekends off -Only work 3 1/2 hours a day, so could get another job -Building a relationship with kids -Getting life experience, looks good on resume -Meeting new people -Lots of fun training -Impacting the kids lives -Easy to move up within the job -Free gym membership

    Cons

    -Sometimes you get short notice about things -The stress can be overwhelming, especially if your program has a lot of kids - Dealing with parents yelling at you
