I worked at YMCA (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Free Membership, Nice clean facilities

    Cons

Everyone hates each other, from the corporate staff on down.
I have witnessed high level directors, corporate staff and branch leaders talking negatively about each other Many times.
Lack of leadership, everyone is a coordinator/director but no one can make a decision so lots of things get missed.
    Very low pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out to the Branches more, Work on professionalism with managers/directors. Live your mission don't just say it all the time.

I have been working at YMCA full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to make a change in people's lives. Giving back to the community.

    Cons

Days can be long. Upper management often doesn't acknowledge when their support staff is doing a good job. Pay is so-so. Tenure staff is often overlooked for advancement. Communication among departments needs to improve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make an investment in training the staff you have on board. This will make staff want to stay longer and make a difference in the lives of families

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
