I worked at YMCA

Pros

Hours are flexible, and the location was very close to me, free gym membership!

Cons

Working with children is never super easy, the hardest part was staying in ratio, they really need to hire more people

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think if you paid your daycare providers a little more money, there might not be so many call offs.

I worked at YMCA (more than an year)

    Pros

Company values are admirable, coworkers are great, pre-camp training was very beneficial for the staff. Dancel was one of the most sought after YCAMP locations, which brought in some great campers with gracious parents.

    Cons

You won't get a raise unless you get a promotion, which is fine for a summer job but I could not imagine working there year-round. Being outside in the Maryland summer heat could get unbearable.

I worked at YMCA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Family environment that was welcoming to its members. Made many life long friends. Learned how not to run a company and how to treat employees.

    Cons

Employees were underpaid, over worked, not respected and overall poorly treated. The organization also turned a deaf ear to the abuse of children that they were supposed to be protecting

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire better executives who have a clue about how to treat employees.
