Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should consider providing each facility with the same amount of funding because some facilities are not treated the same in urban locations.

I have been working at YMCA

    Pros

    Flexible Scheduling
Start out pay is not bad, a great place to work for college students or those seeking just PT employment.

    Cons

Good ol' boys club, those who work hard get overlooked
Management is out of touch with its employees.
    The association abuses its reputation
Pressures its employees to donate to its charity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more uniformity within the association, this confuses not only the member but also the staff. Fear is not an effective way to motivate your employees. Try to work a day with the employees so you are not so out of touch with what they have to do.

It wasn't the best company to work for.

    I worked at YMCA

    Pros

It has great programs for children and people in need. It is a great place for a seasonal summer job.

    Cons

The YMCA constantly puts people in management positions that are not qualified for those positions. They put a lot of effort into making sure that all of their hourly staff ( Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, etc.) are fully certified and well qualified for those positions, but they seem to do little in making sure that all management positions are properly certified and qualified. This results in a large turnover in management positions, and this also results in improper department management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure that you hire people who are fully qualified for those positions.
