I have been working at Yahoo as a contractor for more than 3 years

Pros

Very open minded culture with a lot to offer to learn. Top Customer care company. Different interesting areas and multicultural feeling.

Cons

Contractors get no benefits. You can stay for several years without getting the chance of a contract. Since the late changes benefits are only and specially focused just for the US despite it is a transnational company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many people get there without being committed to their jobs and just waiting for the paycheck when working after a while. The professional growth has a lack of existence in many countries. The clear preference with the benefits only over the US employees is an open invitation to rethink the philosophy of the company and how much other markets are way less important to it.

I worked at Yahoo full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Nothing much except just sit where you are and make money till they ask you to leave one fine day.
Enjoy free lunch, flexible timings, free transport, work from home, good salary and perks for very less work pressure. No other company will provide these facilities for the kind of work they expect.
I always recommended this company to my friends till the point I was the employee there and get referral bonus.

    Cons

People ( in higher positions) are just sitting and minting money and as they know nobody will entertain these people as Yahoo did. They follow once policy, fill people under themselves to move up and fire them later to move higher during reorganization by showing money saved by layoffs.
Renaming projects and reorganizing teams or moving people around does not turn around companies and that what last 4 CEO's did.
Smart people have left company, so do expect to work with smart people( there are only a hand full left there)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Layoff all people who are managers and above and in Yahoo for more than 5-6 years. They are useless bunch of people.
Break and Sell off Yahoo. Forget turning around company as the competition is fierce out there and there is no another Apple story repeat happening. 100 times smaller companies are making 100 times better products in the market.
Don't open positions unless you really need them else that results in big layoffs.
