Yahoo – “Come work for Yahoo if you just need a way to pay your bills.”

Pros

You get paid the same whether you work or not. And if you're an engineer you're virtually immuned to getting laid off

Cons

Come on. This is yahoo. It would take too long to list everything.

In short

1) Company lacks focus. Too many people trying to do too many things at the same time
2) More product managers than engineers
3) More development managers than engineers
4) Lots of people who have worked for a very long time and feel entitled to not doing any work
5) Company that repeatedly threw retention cash bonuses at people to get them to stay, even though they didn't do any work
6) Infrastructure a total disaster. Yahoo's core infrastructure is a hacked up BSD release that only old timer Yahoo's know how things are slapped together.

Advice to Senior Management

Quit or fire yourself.
