they never figured out how to integrate in europe. europe has always been the cinderella. a part from fabiola arredondo, who was the right bland of european and american and a very nice person too.

Advice to Management

its time to either come up with something innovative or just sell the business.

    Pros

Apart from free coffee and good salary, there is no reason for a developer to work here. As a fresher i was given only ad-hoc work, treated like a football, kicked from one project to another

    Cons

Everything sucks, especially for devlopers, your expected to work on week ends on holidays, your simply dumped work and expected to complete, no career plannning

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like person, and not like resources

  2. Don't listen to the BS around Yahoo! - If you get a chance to work here, grab it with both hands and don't let go!

    Pros

    - Kickass benefits and a fun workplace
    - Above average compensation
    - Clear direction from management (personal opinion)
    - Flexible work hours and locations
    - Free food, gym, healthcare, coffee and candy!!
    - Top level view of the online space - great value addition
Apart from that, the scope of the work that you do, the exposure that you get both, within the org and outside of it, is invaluable. In the online space, there is no comparison to Yahoo! that gives you a complete overall picture of the market. The regular freebies, picnics and parties add to the fun. The free and open culture, as well as being in the company of some very intelligent people adds to the great times.

    Cons

The downsides, though few, deserve an important mention here. As most of you know, Yahoo! is going through a tough transformational phase, so there is this inherent risk that is associated with a job with Yahoo (think job security and the "L" word). The good thing is though, that not all positions and profiles are at a similar risk. Again, the recent cost cutting measures rub some of the sheen from the workplace and work life, but I guess in these times, we just have to grin and bear it. Apart from that, some changes and redundancies take a lot of time to fix, but I guess with the new management in place, this would change as well.

    Advice to Management

Take tough decisions - but don't lose focus on making it a fun place for employees again.
