Pros

People are smart and friendly, good pay, free lunch and snakes, doing very interesting project related to Yahoo! advertising.

Cons

Champaign is a comfortable and good place to work, but if you prefer big city, it won't offer the things big city have.

    Pros

Great product, a lot of people on the lower rungs who honestly want to do a great job and think about the customer.

    Cons

There has been so much change and leadership swapping that the mid-level managers who are still there are often the ones that are the least qualified (if they had anything on the ball, they would have gone somewhere else) and the most unethical.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It isn't hard to find them. Look for the ones who have very high turnover and have negative reviews from their teams. I don't know how they talk their way out of it because the data is there.

I have been working at Yahoo full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Yahoo! is a major brand in the IT landscape and it is a great place to be if you are looking for innovative projects. The culture is fun and casual. Free food, lots of benefits. Hours used to be even more flexible, but it is still a great work-life balance company and it is green. The products you work on are impacting life of billions of users around the world. Love it :)

    Cons

Difficult to move up with career. Very much Sunnyvale centric. Can get frustrated by the pace... many projects we work on end up not going on production or getting killed very fast. But that's the IT industry. Lots of work with teams in China and India late at night.
