I have been working at Yahoo full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Work life balance is good.
Work is good , learning is much better than other companies
CEO is good trying hard but all need to help her to get turnaround( I feel that 'all' is missing)

    Cons

Direction is lost. Seems like swimming in ocean water and trying to reach the shore.
Executive management does not know much whats going on ground other than very high level.
Head count is way high than needed. No one asks for justification why we need so many people.
Middle management is not higher quality.
Frequent layoffs in company. Wont recommend if you plan for green card by yahoo inc.

I worked at Yahoo as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Very smart and well educated people. Some fabulous projects. Comfortable digs. Use good technology and good infrastructure.

    Cons

Great projects get cut or starved, there's no focus on making the next generation of cool resources to be a solution that is number one in the marketplace in one product area or another. There is too much focus on internal politics than on making great technology into wonderful services, tools and content for end users. There is poor communication and reward systems for doing the right thing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a goal or two to win and stick to it. Support those who are working to get you there. Cut out the other political parts.
