I worked at Yahoo

Pros

- Great brand
 - Smart people
 - Products that make a real difference
 - Opportunity for international travel
 - Interesting projects

Cons

- Budgets that go through a continual salami slicer
 - Work life balance
 - Too many meetings
 - Huge difference in experience working in offices and benefits on offer - US was way better than US
 - Constant reorganisations
 - Being forced to use a HP laptop running Windows
 - Excessive politics

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- Be merciless in killing properties and underperforming execs
 - Stamp on political infighting
 - Consolidate low value brands like Kelkoo
 - Work out what you want to be and invest in it
 - Focus more on user experience and the ad inventory will follow
 - Pick a budget and stick to it
 - Plan beyond 90 days

    I worked at Yahoo

    Pros

The people and the enviroment is fun

    Cons

at least in LATAM there is no strategy to follow, Corporation do not care about the region and the team based in California, who suppost to look for us, do not have the leadership to make things happen. I participated in a lot of meetings where no conclusions or plan to actions came up. the meetings where not even fun... they do not care about development or strategy or they do not how to do it. The Miami team do not have the leadership and they do not either know how design a plan

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Yahoo! is a great web site and media company, but they are not a tech company, they are far form that and in some regions they do not know how to manage the business

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Yahoo

    Pros

Crreative company with lots of new products. Staff are given quite a lot of latitide to perform their jobs.

    Cons

Becomming a larger size company, which brings about the bureaucracy of scale. The bureaucracy is not stiffling or anything but it's just different than a small company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Faster decision making to drive growth in new product categories. For example Yahoo needs to become a bigger player in social networking, so faster and higher risk decisions could be beneficial.
