    Pros

There are many high profile professors, and, of course, Yale has an immediate name recognition associated with it. Just make sure to pick your lab and mentor wisely.

    Cons

Postdocs aren't considered employees and receive benefits that are terrible in comparison to real employees (students get much better healthcare benefits too).

    Advice to Management

Quit treating postdocs as non-employees and pay fair wages in comparison to other ivy league institutions.

Great benefits, not much room for promotion"

    Pros

Job security (Union) and benefits, paid time off.

    Cons

Little room for upward mobility as a clerical & technical employee, especially if you work in research. Here often a good worker is only rewarded with more work, not a higher paycheck...due to "budgetary restraints"

    Advice to Management

Find a way to reward your employees monetarily, even when you work off of grants, otherwise you will find you have high turnover, and are only left with the workers who are looking to scrape by, or who's hands are tied b/c they are so far into their schooling it's too late to switch to the corporate world...
