I have been working at Yale University full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Benefits are good, time is flexible, employer perks are good. Co-workers are generally educated, helpful and friendly.

Cons

Conflicts with union sometimes overshadow issues. Working with other departments is sometimes difficult. Budgets have been cut for departments. Med school relies on grant funding for many processes.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a better handle on what employee problems are in the day-to-day activities. Cut back on the approval process that requires so many people to make decisions that it slows everything down to a crawl. Open up to new ideas and create a better method for growth of employees careers.

I worked at Yale University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Bright, engaged students. A pleasure to teach tutorials.

    Cons

Inability to give some students the grades they deserve (i.e. C's, D's and F's) because of concerns related to parental involvement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the students fail if they deserve to. It will serve them better in the long run to know that there are real consequences to their actions (or inactions).
