    Pros

There are quite a few motivated people who work here and it's great place to learn and do new things. There are a lot of opportunities to learn formally as well as informally. There is a budget for professional development for almost all departments You could go to school for free and so can your family. Getting your time off, holidays and sick days is not a problem. Good work life balance. People are in general open to new ideas. In fact I have seen some people come back to York after having worked at other places, which is a true test of an organisation. No I am not a part of HR trying to promote the place, in fact I got laid off last month due to budgetary reasons.

    Cons

There are some old timers who resist change. From a manager's perspective you need to deal with some disgruntled union staff. Some of the faculty have a sense of entitlement so they don't like to change their way of thinking.

    Advice to Management

Respect and appreciate all the good guys who work here.
