Former Employee - Global Strategy (Planning) Director in New York, NY

I worked at Young & Rubicam full-time for more than a year

Pros

Friendly culture, no back-stabbers here, very supportive environment

Cons

The creative isn't what it should be - it's not for lack of talent or effort.. there are just too many layers on top.. very top heavy.

Also, very difficult to get formally promoted (you basically have to get an offer from elsewhere first)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to give thought to how you promote.

Former Employee - Art Director in Chicago, IL

I worked at Young & Rubicam full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There is a big pool of top smart and creative talent, as well as fun brands that offer interesting opportunities for creative executions.

    Cons

There was a lot of bad client management, which in turn lead to long hours. That in turn also made the quality of work deteriorate over time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring senior people/managers and get more lower tier people to do the actual work. It becomes too much of a burden on those there to do the work of multiple people.
