You accumulate vacation time but don't get to take it.

Overnight Teacher Counselor (Former Employee)
Linden, TN

I worked at Youth Villages

ProsYou really make a difference in the children lives. The children make the job worth having and make you not want to leave.

ConsThe management is extremely unprofessional, they push for you to work on your off time and go above and beyond but do not try to help with the stress you endure during work. If you are offered a advancement and don't take it they try to make it so you can't transfer anywhere else by giving bad references and write-ups. Some of the staff is extremely incompetent and they won't be fired the supervisor will just talk about them behind there back and let you deal with the stress and unsafe environment of working with them. You will accumulate vacation time but the supervisors wont give you vacation time because they don't want to work in your place. No time for sleep and you will want to spend a whole day off just catching up on sleeping.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more professional towards your staff. Give staff some vacation time because working 60 hours a week in 4 days will burn them out fast, and causes your staff to leave.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
