Pros

YuMe figured out what works after a few pivots. The company is growing like crazy, is backed by Tier 1 VCs, and hires smart people. What's not to like? Heard that the culture used to be so-so, but so far so good!

Cons

Lots of growing pains despite having been around for nearly a decade. Lots of expensive executives for a company this size

Advice to Management

Focus on growth and retain talent. Encourage more fun. Have never seen anyone use the basketball court

    Pros

    -Great coworkers (below mgmt level)
    -Free Caltrain pass
-Free lunch once a week, fridge with snacks and drinks daily

    Cons

-Product fails to compare to competitors
-Engineering team is overwhelmed with work so software is has many bugs
-Most mangers are unqualified to mange or do not know the industry
-Promotions come by way of politics not hard work
-Many "mangers" only mange on person, middle mgmt = 1>1>1>3-more.
-Exec team is looking to be bought out instead of working to get better
-Pay doesn't compare to many other companies but the company name is great on the resume

    Advice to Management

Take a step back to review management team. Almost all of them are unqualified when you actually speak to them about their job duties. Pass work over because they do not know not because they are delegating.

    Pros

YuMe hires a lot of talented engineers and individual contributors so there is always so much to learn from the individuals. But they all leave quick once they understand the politics so grasp as soon as you can.
If you can grow immune to politics and smothering, then you can join YuMe
The product is good and has a lot of scope. It is not stabilized yet so there are many interesting and challenging projects in due.

    Cons

    Politics
Management is run by gossips and backbiting
    No vision
Your efforts will not be recognized unless you cajole the management
Growth is only when you turn in your teammate to management
    Absolutely no transparency
You're evaluated only by what others speak about you
    Forget work-life balance
There is no hierarchy. When things go bad, there will not be anyone there to cover your back.
This place can bring your morale and values down.

    Advice to Management

Consider liberal and transparent work culture. Stop treating employees like dirt. Do not just talk about processes when you've no intention to follow them.
