Pros

Great people, lot's of opportunity for improvement. YKHC is a great place to work if you are ok with remote Alaska.

Cons

Small company with limited growth potential. It can get very cold in Bethel, Alaska, but if you are ok with that, this is the place to work in town.

I have been working at Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp. full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There are no pros to working here.

    Cons

Bosses that are only out for themselves
Bosses that have separate rules for certain employees, which encourages conflict between employees.
Bosses allow physical threats to occur in the workplace.
Senior management is completely incompetent. Normally, if one employee threatens another, the employee making the threat is no longer an employee, here they just send them to HR, for a 'talk'.
If things continue, this place will be another statistic, where an employee comes back and shoots someone, I'm just glad, as long as it happens after Memorial Day, I won't be around to get shot. Stay away from this place!
Not a good place to work. Even if you are unemployed and don't have any other prospects, do not take a job here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Terminate employees that threaten coworkers, in anyway, shape or form. If they comment to another employee that, 'you don't know what I'm capable of', that person should NOT go to HR, they should go to jail!

YKHC is a bumbling, bureaucratic organization that manages nonetheless to be lovable at times.

    I worked at Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp. full-time

    Pros

For unskilled jobs, the pay is better than it is at most other local employers. Some of the positions are incredibly laid back, though others are overly demanding. Vacation time is very generous.

    Cons

Some departments are perennially understaffed. YKHC is inefficient to a degree that one wonders how it manages financially. There is an air of disorganization that hangs around the entire organization. The turnover rate is high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix the recruiting department. Many applicants have been greeted with a lack of interest that is baffling given the shortage of workers in many departments.
