Pros

The people I worked with were great and the overall environment was enjoyable. The pay was sufficient for the work. The products were fun and interesting. No nights or weekend hours. Centrally located in the Salt Lake Valley.

Cons

I always felt there was a lack of opportunities and personal growth within the company. Even people that were more than qualified for available positions weren't given opportunities. There was always a lack of communication between departments. Poor benefits. Job security ultimately was an issue.

    Pros

    The middle and lower ranks have a can do attitude and creativity to get things done.

    Cons

    Infrastructure -- This company lacks the basic infrastructure in an organization this size. No intranet with centralized data - Sales data, inventory, vendor, quality reports, pricing and forecasting are updated on spreadsheets and stored in un-accessible departmental Cloud folders. Information isn't updated live and requires day and up to weeks to have the info collected. Development of product isn't well though through and is reactive based on competitor actions.
    Management - Power is centered around people who started with the company. Instead of resolving problems at the source. People with less seniority are often used as scapegoats to deflect blame.

    Advice to Management

    Take time to build a centralized intranet that provides instant information on the metrics listed above. The longer you wait, the more difficult and expensive it will be. This was the main cause of the excess inventory problem that the company is having.

    Pros

    Cool vibe, energy. Great coworkers.

    Cons

    There were the execs and then everyone else. Too much decision making concentrated in the executive team. Everyone else just waited on them to make decisions. Not much upward mobility available. Poor compensation.

    Advice to Management

    Flatten the management structure. Give others some more decision making authority.
