I have been working at Zebra Technologies full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good people, Good benefits, Strong products with a good reputation. People care about their jobs. Finished an amazing ERP project in 2012. Hard workers and good teamwork with IT. IT is very good here and they actually help you.

Cons

Leadership is not valued. Good sales people are removed. Recent surprises with Senior IT leader moving on. Innovation outside of printers is bad. New product development with RFID non existent. Senior leaders responsible for new products seem to be lost. Company very good at cutting and not investing in growth. Supply chain leadership is confused.

Advice to Management

Senior Leaders are difunctional and need help.

    I worked at Zebra Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    The company has a great product, the engineers do a great job and the majority of the employees do their job with the best of intentions. The product is key and makes or breaks this type of company. Overall the product is above average and has longevity.

    Cons

    Management is more focused on profits than employees, which is typical or larger companies. After the mergers and consolidations, Zebra's focus has become solely on profits and cost cutting. Their last step was sending most of the production overseas and then configuring the final product here. Overall the quality suffered but as long as the profits were there, everything else was secondary.

    Advice to Management

    Your people are your biggest asset and if you don't keep them happy, the end result will be a negative effect on the entire company, the stock prices and the product. Put more emphasis on having employees work together instead of having them compete against each other.

    Pros

    The people here are nice. Solid company that typically does the same work over and over. The working leadership changes every 2-3 years which can be a welcome improvement. Many of the challenging people have departed so the environment is easier to work in. A good starter

    Cons

    No real leadership. The latest consultant input can dramatically change the working environment. There's a hidden political environment so chose your internal network carefully. If you select Zebra - make sure you have a career path on your next step as promotion opportunities are limited and few managers leave making upward promotion limited.
