    I worked at Ziegler

    Pros

The Ziegler staff have a great ability to train and nurture financial services employees who are young and inexperienced. Through a week-long new employee training seminar, Advisors develop and put to use skills needed to serve clients and build business for the company. Branch office locations are small (generally 10 employees or less) and provide a comfortable environment to work in.

    Cons

In the "Wealth Management" division, Ziegler promotes short-term profit over long term growth. Investment products and sales strategies are designed for customers, not clients and pressure is added on employees to "produce" as much as possible on a month to month basis. These principles destroy long term relationships and eventually lead to a high employee trunover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on the long term.
Break down Manangement/employee and HQ/Branch barriers.
Focus on the current clients, not just obtaining new ones.

    I worked at Ziegler

    Pros

You don't have to work weekends in most cases. Fair balance of home life vs. work.

Some of the people can be nice.

    Cons

cliquey. If you don't belong then you won't last long.

Employees are always throwing each other under the bus. Nobody there likes to admit to making mistakes.

Management always goes belly-up if someone powerful/money maker complains. Depending on who the person is, they get whatever they want and if you're considered a nobody then you can forget about it.

You can work at the company for 20+ years and they will let you go without even an acknowledgment of service. Depending on what office you work at most people won't even have a clue as to who you are.

Employee morale is at a all-time low.

Management doesn't even acknowledge you if you don't make money for the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should really take the time to visit each and every one of their employees. Not just talk and acknowledge the ones that matter or make money. There are other equally important people there that help the business run. If you wonder why morale is so low then perhaps you should get to know your employees.
